General Information:
Temperate deciduous forests are located all around the world mostly in Eastern North America and the middle of Europe. There are a few in Asia and some in Russia, Japan and China. Deciduous forests have three zones; the Tree stratum zone, where the height of the trees is between 60 and 100 feet. Mostly large trees grow at this level, like Oak, beech, maple, Chestnut hickory, elm, basswood, linden, walnut and sweet gum. The next level of a deciduous forest is the small zone where trees and saplings grow. It's home to the young and short trees. The Shrub zone has ground level plants like rhododendrons, huckleberries, azaleas and mountain laurel.
